Industrial Magnetics, Inc. recently introduced a new product line for welders that proposes several advantages over standard C-Clamps in the welding process. Their new Kant-Twist™ Cantilever Clamps offer a lighter & stronger clamping solution that keeps material properly aligned during setup and won’t walk-off-center.
The Kant-Twist’s innovative cantilever design eliminates the problematic distorting and twisting of work pieces common with typical screw-type clamping models and provides a strong, 4:1 holding ratio. The free floating jaws easily adjust to uneven surfaces while offering three different gripping faces to meet the application needs; knurled, smooth or a V-slot for holding round stock.
While the product was primarily designed for spot welding, it can also be used for drilling or bolting steel stock, or whenever two pieces of material need to be held firmly together. Proudly made in the USA, four different models are available with clamping forces that range from 200 to 2,000 lbs.
For welding applications, the company recommends choosing a Kant-Twist™ model with copper plated jaws, screw and handle to prevent weld spatter from sticking. If precise control over the holding pressure of the material is required, the "Round Handle" model offers fine tuning capability. The "Deep Throat" model offers the farthest reach onto work pieces for optimal holding, while the "Stainless Steel" model is ideal for clamping material in corrosive or sanitary environments or for use in magnetic applications.
