Bigger, Better with Javelin Acquisition
In 2017, Industrial Magnetics announced the acquisition of Javelin Manufacturing. Based out of Fort Wayne, IN, Javelin specializes in Eddy Current Separators and engineered systems found in scrap, recycling, waste, mining, and related industries. IMI recognized that the joining of these forces was the necessary next step in expanding metal separation offerings.
Javelin’s footprint, reputation, and well-established relationships provided a unique opportunity for the growth of both the Javelin brand and IMI's ferrous separation product line.
Walker Acquisition Accelerates Growth
Industrial Magnetics significantly expanded its capabilities in 2020 by acquiring Walker Magnetics Group, Inc., the oldest industrial magnet manufacturer in North America. Founded in 1896 by the inventor of the electromagnetic chuck, Walker is a globally recognized leader in highly engineered magnetic products, serving a vast customer base across 190 countries.
Walker Magnetics brought design and manufacturing expertise for products using permanent, electro-permanent, and electromagnetic technologies for workholding, lifting, material handling, scrap magnets, and separation. Walker’s lifting magnets are commonly used in steel mills, scrap yards, loading docks, warehouses, foundries, shipyards, and coil steel and pipe distributors.
By joining forces, IMI took a significant step forward in expanding its portfolio of permanent, electromagnetic, and electro-permanent magnetic technologies and systems for industrial applications.
